Infant Craniosacral Therapy: Gentle Support for Your Baby

Since opening RAW Therapy + Wellness in 2022, infant massage has been one of the foundations of my work. Working with parents and teaching simple techniques they can use at home has been incredibly empowering — especially when babies are colicky and families aren’t sure where to turn. In addition to infant massage therapy, I have incorporated Infant Craniosacral Therapy into my practice.

Over the past six months, I’ve become officially certified in Infant Craniosacral Therapy while continuing my training in craniosacral therapy as a whole. I’ve already had the opportunity to work with many infants and have seen some truly amazing changes. Parents often share that the difference in their baby’s comfort, mood, and overall well-being has been night and day.

What Is Infant Craniosacral Therapy?

Infant Craniosacral Therapy is a very gentle form of bodywork that supports a baby’s nervous system and releases tension in the head, neck, and body that can develop during pregnancy and birth.

The touch is extremely light and calming, and most babies respond beautifully to it.

Why It Can Help

Even with smooth deliveries, birth is a big physical experience for babies. Tension can build in the body and show up as:

  • Colic and fussiness

  • Reflux, gas, or digestive discomfort

  • Feeding or latch challenges

  • Trouble sleeping or settling

  • Head or neck tightness

Craniosacral therapy gently helps the body relax and rebalance, making it easier for babies to feel comfortable and calm.

Common Benefits Parents Notice

  • Less colic and crying

  • Better sleep

  • Improved digestion and reflux

  • Easier feeding and latching

  • Reduced tension in the body

  • Calmer nervous system

  • Improved head and neck movement

  • Overall increased comfort

What a Session Looks Like

Sessions are calm, gentle, and baby-led. Your baby may lie on the table or be held by you while I use light touch to support their body. I often include infant massage during sessions and teach parents techniques they can continue using at home. Many babies relax deeply or fall asleep.

A Whole-Body Approach

Along with craniosacral therapy and infant massage, I sometimes recommend additional support such as pediatric chiropractic care or seeing a pediatric dentist/provider for tongue or lip tie concerns when appropriate.

These approaches can work together to support your baby’s development and comfort.

When to Consider Craniosacral Therapy

You might consider bringing your baby in if they are experiencing colic, reflux, feeding challenges, poor sleep, tension in the body, or after a difficult birth.

It can also be a wonderful way to support your baby’s nervous system early on.
